Our Approach

You could also call this heading “Our philosophy” or “Our vision.” This is the place to talk about what drives you and your business and what’s unique about your process. What you write here should be something distinct and interesting about your business that sets it apart from others in the same industry.

Our Story

Every business has a beginning, and this is where you talk about yours. People want to know what opportunity you saw or how your passion led to the creation of something new. Talk about your roots–people wanna know you have some.

A little more about us!

Patti Cushing is the daughter of John and Phyllis Maguire, the original owners of Fan Lady & Lighting, which has been in Englewood for over 35 years. Even if their family’s next generation doesn’t take the helm, that doesn’t mean growth won’t happen.

Q.) When did you open your business?

A.) We opened our doors in 1985.

Q.) What has changed since you opened?

A.) Things have changed a lot, our fans aren’t the same, the area isn’t the same. Our customers have changed as well.

Q.) How many employees do you have?

A.) There are three of us.

Q.) What is your most popular item or service?

A.) Our more modern fans because of their stronger motors. They use very little energy.

Q.) What’s the hardest part about your business?

A.) There is really no hard part about it except for space. Space is an issue because we are constantly juggling all the different products customers want us to carry.

Q.) What sets you apart from other businesses?

A.) The customer service is our specialty. We spend as much times as our customers need us to to make sure we get it right.

Q.) What advice do you have for someone just starting a business?

A.) Don’t do it! Do your research, and don’t give up!

Q.) What does the future hold for your business?

A.) I would love to see my children here but they are not interested. I would also love to expand to maybe a store in North Port.
